Job Requirements




College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate; First Aid Certificate; CADD Course; Carpenter Trade Certification


3 years to less than 5 years

Specific Skills

Advise on tendering procedures; Utilize quantity take-off procedures; Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems; Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads; Prepare master format estimates (Class A); Monitor and adjust contract expenditures; Estimate pre-contract costs; Analyze tenders and recommend awards; Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs; Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates

Take-off packages; Spreadsheet; SAP (FI/CO / HR / MM / OT SD); Scheduling packages; MS Excel; MS Word; Estimating packages; Database

Additional Skills

Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications; Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects; Operate CADD and other computer software systems
